Local and Global Mission

LOCAL MISSION

Hot Meals at Kent Social Services:  Join us the 3rd Thursday of every month as we help prepare and serve hot meals to our neighbors and friends in need of a meal.  We meet at 3:30 p.m. at Kent Social Services.

Lord’s Pantry at Kent Social Services:  We strive to practice mindful shopping habits in our lives.  Each time we go grocery shopping we buy a few extra non-perishable goods.  We, then, place them in a box located at the front of our sanctuary each Sunday as part of our giving.  It’s not hard to do, but it makes a big difference for people in need in Kent.

Hartville Migrant Ministries: Located in our lobby is a shopping cart and a list of items needed to support the migrant workers working on farms in Hartville, OH.  Our goal is to fill the basket, and show God’s love to the migrant community.

Habitat for Humanity of Portage County:  Kent Presbyterian is a Covenant Church of Habitat for Humanity.  We have members who volunteer in many ways, including serving on the board.  We keep the ministry in our prayers, and will join with Habitat in their renovation of homes as a community this summer.

GLOBAL MISSION

World Vision: As a community we support 6 children in 3 different countries through World Vision – helping provide for education, clean water, and food, if necessary.  Our children correspond with these children as they grow up together in different parts of the world.

Jonathan Center in Albania: This Center serves children with Down’s Syndrome and their families.

St. Paul’s High School in Hyderabad, India

Lebanese School for Syrian Refugee Children: This ministry provides education and daily lunch of Syrian Children living in refugee camps in Lebanon.

Presbyterian Church (USA) Mission: We support all 5 of our denominational giving efforts throughout the year.  These efforts funnel money and human energy to those in need throughout the world.
